Four Little Girls

Today, September 15th marks a grim anniversary. This was a day when black children, four little girls to be specific, were targeted for racial terrorism in a Birmingham church in 1963. Remember these child-martyrs for civil rights today whenever you get a moment and if you can watch the Spike Lee documentary about their lives and deaths. In their honor, I offer this Baha'i prayer for those who have passed on into the next world:

O my God! O Thou forgiver of sins, bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions!

Verily, I beseech Thee to forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have ascended to the spiritual world.

O my Lord! Purify them from trespasses, dispel their sorrows, and change their darkness into light. Cause them to enter the garden of happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water, and grant them to behold Thy splendors on the loftiest mount.
