Bundle of Boy

It is hard to believe that I have been a post-utero father for over a week. During this time Douglass 'Ali has been up to all kinds of things including finding his voice (AKA CRYING), learning to shake his head "no", hold a pacifier in his mouth with his hands and excrete in varying colors and shades. What a week. Oh yes and now and again he cracks a smile too. He is a charmer. Right now he is enjoying whatever infants dream about and rockin' his "Born to Read" hat (his mom is a librarian). Enjoy some photos.

"O dear one of 'Abdu'l-Bahá! Be the son of thy father and be the fruit of that tree. Be a son that hath been born of his soul and heart and not only of water and clay. A real son is such a one as hath branched from the spiritual part of man. I ask God that thou mayest be at all times confirmed and strengthened." (Abdu'l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu'l-Baha, p. 140)

  1. Did I ever warned you that you should sleep all you can before he was born?
My eldest son used to cry a lot! We could hardly have more than 3 hour sleep...

  2. Get gripe water from the following was soothing to Jas and made sleep possible...

BTW, once Jas cried and cried before going to sleep at night. Mana was tired and it was my turn to put Jas to bed. I rocked her, held her, sang to her, etc. for 45 minutes and she just kept crying. With all things done, I gave up and said to myself I haven't tried simply placing her in her crib. I placed her in the crib and left the room. About three minutes later she stopped crying and was asleep. Lesson learned - sometimes you don't do something to a child to help them sleep, you just let them.

  3. Just now catching up on my blog reading and so much has happened since I last visited your blog. CONGRATULATIONS to you and Maura and welcome to the world Douglass Ali!!

  4. Thanks Child of Africa, Marco and Mark. Mark I will check out that baby bliss stuff.
