Baha'i Dad Chronicles: Month 6

Our son is 6 months old today. Times flies right? Douglass Ali is currently manifesting the qualities of a "big boy". He is sitting up on his own, making the final preparations for crawling, eating solid (well, mushy) food on a regular basis, giving eloquent speeches in baby talk and now laughs spontaneously whenever something tickles his fancy. He is also no longer the only baby in his day care, he has a younger companion whom he observes with what appears to be curiosity. He is not yet sleeping through the whole night (people always want to know that for some reason). Whenever he sees me he gives me a big smile and gets super excited. It makes me feel like the coolest guy on earth. Oh, and he does not like green peas (who does?). The weather is warming and I'm looking forward to spending more time outside with him enjoying God's beautiful creation. Stay tuned for the next installment at 7 months.

Be swift in the path of holiness, and enter the heaven of communion with Me. Cleanse thy heart with the burnish of the spirit, and hasten to the court of the Most High.

(Baha'u'llah, The Persian Hidden Words)

  1. Isn't it glorious to see your child developing in front of your eyes? Erica and I have the privilege now of observing our grandchildren (4 of them aged from 2 to nearly 9 years) growing up.

Mind you, the next thing you know he'll be wanting to borrow the keys to the car....

  2. Yeah, Douglass! Rock it, boy :)

  3. Great photo, Philippe.

Also, thank you for adding my blog to your blog roll. I think I'll do the same thing at my blog.

I enjoy your blog and have subscribed to it.

Children are so glorious, aren't they? My wife and I have seven between us and so many grandchildren, whom I can't keep track of because they are being born so fast.

I noticed you said you are a dedicated blogger. That might change a bit as your time is spent with your new child. :-)

But, I'm sure you'll fine time, since you do such an exceptional job.

    Yours truly,

  4. I appreciate how you combine world-wide news with sweet personal updates on your blog. I am becoming a more informed person thanks to this blog and to the links you've provided. My youngest child is two days younger than your cute Douglass. I hope Andrew Curtis and Douglass Ali will meet up at a future Baha'i conference or at another one of your classes at Green Acre. Sincerely, Amy Whitebell (student in Apostles course January '07 at Green Acre)

  5. Amy, thanks for commenting. And congratulations on your child. I too hope they can meet at Green Acre some time and grow up together doing all kinds of Baha'i things!

Always nice to hear from an Apostle of Baha'u'llah!
