Fast Bloggin' Day 13

"This is the Ocean out of which all seas have proceeded, and with which every one of them will ultimately be united. From Him all the Suns have been generated, and unto Him they will all return. Through His potency the Trees of Divine Revelation have yielded their fruits, every one of which hath been sent down in the form of a Prophet, bearing a Message to God's creatures in each of the worlds whose number God, alone, in His all-encompassing Knowledge, can reckon. This He hath accomplished through the agency of but one Letter of His Word, revealed by His Pen -- a Pen moved by His directing Finger -- His Finger itself sustained by the power of God's Truth."
(Baha'u'llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha'u'llah, p. 103)

Though it is not directly related to the Fast, I came across these Words of Baha'u'llah earlier today. I have a copy of "Writings of Baha'u'llah" that I keep at work for inspiration. This quote is crazy beautiful so I thought readers might enjoy it as much as I did.

I ended up rising a bit too early, being confused by the time change. I was remarkably productive though (I work best before dawn). Strangely enough, I had virtually no appetite so did not eat much. I paid for that for the rest of the day. I felt every single moment of every single hour of the physical part of the Fast.

I was able to have a little fun though. I created a page on Facebook for Baha'i Thought, complete with "fans". I did instant messaging for the first time ever as well. Having recently gotten a Blackberry I'm beginning to feel like one of the cool kids!

I broke the Fast with my wife and son over a hearty bowl of spaghetti with garlic bread and my much loved V8 Splash. I'm pretty beat, so I'm planning to nap a bit before hitting the books again, God willing.

Hard to believe that the Fast is more than half done. I'm looking forward to celebrating the New Year in Western Massachusetts with family and old friends. Western Mass. is where I became a Baha'i almost 13 years ago but that's a story for another post.

"Glory be to Thee, O Lord my God! These are the days whereon Thou hast bidden all men to observe the fast, that through it they may purify their souls and rid themselves of all attachment to any one but Thee, and that out of their hearts may ascend that which will be worthy of the court of Thy majesty and may well beseem the seat of the revelation of Thy oneness. Grant, O my Lord, that this fast may become a river of life-giving waters and may yield the virtue wherewith Thou hast endowed it. Cleanse Thou by its means the hearts of Thy servants whom the evils of the world have failed to hinder from turning towards Thine all-glorious Name, and who have remained unmoved by the noise and tumult of such as have repudiated Thy most resplendent signs which have accompanied the advent of Thy Manifestation Whom Thou hast invested with Thy sovereignty, Thy power, Thy majesty and glory. These are the servants who, as soon as Thy call reached them, hastened in the direction of Thy mercy and were not kept back from Thee by the changes and chances of this world or by any human limitations."
