My assistant blogger, Douglass Ali and I attended the release party for a new children's book called Something Important.
The book was written by our dear friend Patti Rae Tomarelli, a Boston Baha'i and well known author for children. Something Important tells the story of Maggie, a Baha'i child whose teacher asks the students in her class to bring something important to share. Through prayer, Maggie decides what she will share with the class. I won't spoil the ending, but what she shares is something VERY important to Baha'is.
This lovely story is beautifully illustrated and would be a great choice not only for Baha'is but for parents interested in their kids learning about different religions. My assistant blogger Douglass Ali was very enthusiastic about this book and even scored a signed copy to take home with him.
The book release party was a lovely affair, full of beautiful people, especially the kids. We were treated
to a reading from the distinguished
author herself! We also got to enjoy
some cake (my assistant blogger really liked the cake).
"It is natural for the heart and spirit to take pleasure and enjoyment in all things that show forth symmetry, harmony, and perfection. For instance: a beautiful house, a well designed garden, a symmetrical line, a graceful motion, a well written book, pleasing garments -- in fact, all things that have in themselves grace or beauty are pleasing to the heart and spirit -- therefore, it is most certain that a true voice causes deep pleasure."
