I rent a room from a friend who, along with most of her family, considers herself "New Thought". I thought she meant "New Age Christian", which is something I'm very familiar with. Many of my friends fall within that category, and I jokingly refer to myself as a "New Age-y Baha'i" because of my interest in astrology, meditation, dream interpretation, and holistic healing. But I draw the line at past lives, reincarnation, ancestor worship and "reading" the future. But "New Thought", as my house mate explained to me, is not Christianity. They believe in all religions (although most are unaware of the Baha'i Faith), but their focus seems to be on establishing a more positive relationship with God. Ain't nothin' wrong with that.

They also seem to accept the tenants of the Baha'i Faith more than evangelicals and fundamentalists, I've noticed. I share prayers and the teachings from time to time, and the responses range from "hmmmm..." to "hey, I've thought that way, too!"

These are indeed strange, wonderful and mysterious days in which we live!

In addition to Baha'i, I think that's why a lot of people are drawn to Unitarian Universalism. UU allows people to find their own path within a large community of diversity. I once considered Baha'i, but found that my liberal values fit better with UU.
