I am actually going to have some brothers at my home on Thursday night to study the June 3 Letter from the Universal House of Justice and would love to have him. My prayers are going out to the family and friends of young Tyreek. Such a senseless loss of life. I used to be outraged and shake with righteous indignation whenever I heard or read about a drive-by. Now I remember that the Manifestation for this Day has prescribed a remedy for all that ails this world.

Phillipe, thank you for posting about BMG. I have enjoyed the recordings the group has made and I play them during my Sunday morning devotionals. My son is a Baha'i living out your way, in Sommerville. He just graduated from Berklee College of Music, and I think it would be good for him to connect with the local BMG group. The June 3 letter has not yet been published so the only way to get a copy is from one of the brothers who has been a part of this week. Perhaps some of the New Jersey brothers could help you out, I'm sure Liz would want a copy as well.

I would like to share it.

I am also writing with a request for prayer during this wonderful gathering at Green Acre, in connection with a Baha'i service project for children and youth--not Baha'i-- taking place in a South Philly Community Center. The Baha'is involved in the project are hosting a neighborhood devotional Saturday night. It is the second in a planned monthly series, and will take place Saturday evening.
If Kenneth and Lloyd have not mentioned to you the project and connected devotionals, please ask for a fuller picture; their participation in the first devotional helped tremendously in having the Word of God permeate the neighborhood.
Sadly, last week a 14 year old, a cousin of one of the young men who's been participating in the weekly classes at the Community Center was shot to death while riding his bicycle. Apparently it was a random act of violence, committed by a 19 year old in a car, who was apprehended by the police. The youngster who was shot is named Tyreek Law. After the shooting, he was taken to the Emergency Room of the local hosptital, where the Baha'i who started the project at the Community Center last year is serving as chief medical resident.
Tyreek did not survive. The event has undoubtedly affected the neighborhood, and willinfluence the character of the devotional as well.
So I'm asking if you could possibly arrange an appropriate time for you and any of the brothers who feel moved to do so to pray for divine confirmations for the gathering on Saturday, for those affected by the killing, for the soul of Tyreek, and also for the young man who killed him. I feel that the Blessed Beauty and beloved Master will approve.
